NITO A/S
A brief history

The company
The company was founded in Copenhagen in 1896 by brazier Valdemar Nielsen and was named Valdemar Nielsens Metalvarefabrik A/S. The company developed over the years under the Nielsen ownership up until the late sixties.

Due to lack of production capacity the factory was moved to a more modern and spacious location in Haderslev. A new factory was built here for industrial production and during this period the Original NiTO couplers took over as an increasing part of the company’s turnover.
Other products at the time were NIF gas taps, OPAL showers, TOKANI drinking valves.

In connection with a generation change-over in the early 1980’s the company was bought by NKT A/S and shortly after it became a fully-owned subsidiary of A/S Fisker & Nielsen (Nilfisk Group). During this ownership the company name was changed to Nitodan A/S and thereby reflecting the main product. Today the name is NITO A/S.

As a result of a change in strategies at NKT, Nitodan was sold in 1995 and today a private investor group owns the company.

The Original NiTO Quick-release coupler
The Original NiTO coupler was developed after request from a major customer who had brought back a quick-release coupler from USA. Based on the vast experience in working with brass Nitodan was able to improve the coupler in a number of ways and it became the first of a wide range of NiTO quick-release couplers.
The NiTO name was derived from Thorvald Nielsen, son of the founder.

Other brands
The NiTO range is no longer just a quick-release coupler for water, their range today includes a number of other specialised coupling systems:

  • KS Pressure couplers
  • TechNiTO quick-release couplers made of acid-resistant stainless steel
  • NiTO Clean foam cleaning equipment for industrial cleaning
  • NiTO MiniMix dosing systems
  • NiTO Master series - equipment for the private DIY user
